The 2019 European Intelligence and Security Informatics Conference (EISIC 2019) took place on the 26th and 27th of November, at the University of Oulu Finland, and was co-hosted by general chairs Dr. Panos Kostakos and Dr. Mourad Oussalah, from UBICOMP and CMVS research units, respectively.
EISIC, the Premier European Conference on Counterterrorism and Criminology, presents the best of current Intelligence and Security Informatics research and practice, emphasizing on the development, use, and evaluation of advanced information technologies, including methodologies, models and algorithms, systems, and tools, for local, national and international security related applications. The conference promotes multi-disciplinary collaborations between researchers and developers from areas such as engineering, computer science, psychology, criminology, crime science, law, privacy and ethics, join with law enforcement, security and defence analysts and investigators to improve our capabilities for fighting crime and ensure the safety, security and trust of our citizens.
The ninth EISIC conference organized by the European ISI community, counted with the participation of four keynote speakers: Dr. Marios Thoma,Training Manager (Cyber), European Security and Defence College, Belgium; Dr. Madhusanka Liyanage, University of Oulu, Finland; Prof. Juha Röning, University of Oulu, Finland; Dr. Ian Oliver, Nokia Bell Labs, Finland, and invited NGO speaker Thi Hoang from The Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime, Vienna, Austria.
The welcome session was led by Generals Chairs Dr. Mourad Oussalah, and Dr. Panos Kostakos, Professor Jukka Riekki, Dean at the UBICOMP-ITEE Faculty, University of Oulu, and the Programme Chair,Dr. Joel Brynielsson, at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden.
