Reboot Finland IoT Factory

Reboot Finland IoT Factory (Reboot IoT) is the new corporate and research ecosystem project funded by Business Finland, in collaboration with ABB, GE Healthcare, Nokia and Ponsse. The R&D activities are supported by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, under the coordination of Marko Jurvansuu, the Åbo Akademi and the University of Oulu, represented by the Faculty of Technology (TTK) and the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE). Susanna Pirttikangas, Senior Research Fellow and Docent at the Centre for Ubiquitous Computing (ITEE), is the responsible director of Reboot Finland for the University of Oulu.

The project’s main goal is to convert factories into innovation platforms,  enhancing the competitiveness and efficiency in the manufacturing industry. The three grand industry challenges Reboot IoT proposes to solve are: 1) Data-driven supply chain and production management,  2)  Robotics fusion, and 3) Labor at digital work environment.

According to Marko Jurvansuu, at VTT, Reboot IoT’s “ecosystem enables the use of IoT products manufactured in the SME sector in various industrial environments. It also enables quick experiments for applying the latest research results in order to develop solutions that are scalable and intended for export”.
